Author Rohinton Mistry was born in India in 1952 and dedicated much of his time as a writer spreading the word of the awful tragedies that were happening there, a message that he would perfect in his second novel A Fine Balance. In this beautifully written masterpiece, Mistry wrote about the lives of four people, all coming from different backgrounds and struggles. Throughout the story, we learn of their misfortunes and their ability or inability to come to terms with their lives. A Fine Balance is a strong, extravagant work of literature that is a necessary read for everyone. Its depiction of grief and the everlasting endurance of the human spirit makes it a story that everyone can find sympathy in.
