Formalizing Common-Law Relationships

Formalizing Common-Law Relationships

When domestic relationships come to an end, whether through death or a breakup, the rights and obligations of common-law partners can be quite different from those of married people. What happens to property and possessions acquired together?  How are children affected? Join lawyer Paul G. Andrews, an expert in family law matters, for a talk on the risks of common-law and other relationships and the legal mechanisms available to protect your interests. Of interest to anyone living with or thinking about living with a partner: divorced or separated, single parents and/or their partners, same-sex couples, and people in second or subsequent relationships.  Open to all adults and teens, but seating is limited. To avoid disappointment, please register in advance: online at events.kfpl.ca or by phone at (613) 549-8888.  Tuesday, November 13, at Isabel Turner branch, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 17, at Sydenham branch, at 2 p.m.  Both talks will be the same.
