Books and Beers, our casual book discussion mixer, returns to the Grad Club on October 24. This month we will be talking about heroes, antiheroes, and superheroes.

Room remains for more particpants! KFPL, in partnership with the Kingston Immigration Partnership and Youth to Kingston, are looking for members of the community interested in sharing their stories on racism and discrimination in our community.  The goal of the Human Library is to create empathy and increase our sense of community by providing those in attendance with the opportunity to meet someone whom they would otherwise not know; to challenge stigma, stereotypes and prejudices through friendly conversation. This event is part of the #SayHello campaign.  The event that will take place on Saturday, November 24, at the KFPL Isabel Turner Branch from 12 to 5 p.m.

Registration is now open for our October 3rd KFPL Live event with Alex Huntley, editor and senior writer with The Beaverton and co-author of The Beaverton Presents: Glorious and/or Free: The True History of Canada. Huntley will talk about his work, writing satire, and how to distinguish between fake news, real news and satirical news.

Queen's Surveillance Studies Centre and KFPL invite you to join Queen's University expert Valerie Michaelson, and the eQuality Project's Valerie Steeves as they explore the impact of the rise of social networking on interpersonal relationships, academic achievement, teen dating, and bullying.
