Is your sewing machine gathering dust? Mandi Coulter from Open Studios will join us for two workshops in May to help you discover the basics and special features your machine offers. If you don't have your own, try your hand at one of the library's two Janome 3160 QDC machines. These hands-on workshops are limited to a small group, and registration is required.

Join us for a special "Juvenis Festival" edition of our coffeehouse-style storytelling event for youth, Viva Voce. The theme is "Languages" and we can't wait to hear what our youth performers have to say!

Books and Beers returns on April 24 with the theme of "April Showers". In other words, we will be talking about tearjerkers, melodramas, and other sad books. Don't forget the tissue!

Every poem is part of an ongoing cultural conversation spanning generations and geographies.  Join the conversation at a 90-minute writing workshop on response poems with Kingston Poet Laureate Jason Heroux. Bring a cherished one-page poem (printed or digital, not your own work) and a notepad or laptop. After a discussion of techniques and methods you'll each write a poem in response to the one you brought.

Free to emerging and practising poets aged 14 and older, but seating is limited. To avoid disappointment please register in advance, online at events.kfpl.ca or by phone at (613) 549-8888.
