Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Erilea’s best assassin, Celaena Sardothien, is only eighteen years old when the Prince makes an unexpected visit to the most dangerous prison, Endovier, to invite Celaena to participate in several tasks to become the King’s Assassin in exchange for her freedom. Celaena would do anything for her freedom, but as the challenges continue, and more and more challengers are eliminated, she starts to question herself and what is going on in the palace around her. A competitive romance takes place with her caught in between and she finds herself becoming attached to the palace life and people.

Celaena is an extremely well-developed character and easy to relate with. Despite the fact that she wouldn’t hesitate to kill you, you can’t help but fall in love with her ambitious, strong, and sarcastic self.

I would recommend this fictional adventure, Throne of Glass, to any age above 12, but particularly passionate and book-loving teenage girls. While staying up until 3am, I found myself laughing out loud, cringing, and even crying while reading this novel.

This enchanting book leaves you in a place where you cannot wait to get your hands on the next book in this series. If you enjoyed reading Throne of Glass, I would highly recommend The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard, and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. They all have strong female protagonists and are filled with action-packed stories with a dash of romance.
