King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

King of Scars is the first book in the King of Scars duology which is part of Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse. It revisits Nikolai Lantsov, Zoya Nazyalenski, and Nina Zenik as they face new challenges and hardships after the events of the Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone series. As the new king, Nikolai has to fight his not-so-welcoming country and the demon inside of him. Zoya has to help her King in ways she never thought she would and Nina must brave the cold of Fjerda and deal with her recent losses.

This book is an amazing start to the final series of the Grishaverse. There were incredible action scenes as well as deep, thought-provoking ones. You can see how all the characters have changed and developed since they were first introduced. It kept me engaged and I loved how much I was able to connect with every character. The beginning was a little slow, but the plot develops so seamlessly and moves a lot faster later on in the book.

I would suggest this book to all fantasy lovers and anyone who loves immersing themselves in fictional worlds. I would also suggest reading the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas as well as the rest of the Grishaverse also by Leigh Bardugo.
