The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia: a reading list

The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is a global campaign to raise awareness about the ongoing discrimination, violence and marginalization faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex people and all of those with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expression, and sex characteristics.

Celebrate diversity and advocate for the rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ people by combating homophobia, transphobia and biphobia.

Learn about IDAHOBIT on It Gets Better Canada's website or May17.org.

Use Notify Me tags in Libby to express interest in digital titles we don't yet offer. And receive notifications if we add them. Image is a view of Libby open on a phone.

How to use Notify Me tags in Libby

Starting June 1, 2023, you can suggest eBook and eAudiobook purchases through OverDrive’s deep search feature, available on the Libby app using your mobile device or libbyapp.com.

Deep search lets you discover titles not yet in our library’s collection. There are two ways to access this function:

  • Your search finds no titles in any of your saved libraries, or,
  • Your search results contain fewer than 100 titles, and you manually turn on the deep search filter.

Libby will show results from your saved libraries and the wider OverDrive Marketplace catalogue. From there, you can borrow or place holds on titles from other saved libraries, or if the title is not in any of your libraries’ collections, you can select Notify Me.

Selecting Notify Me sets up a smart tag in Libby that alerts us that there’s a request and alerts you if one of your libraries purchases the title.

Find out more about how it works through Libby's help site.

Please note that until June 1, you cannot suggest titles through OverDrive or Libby.
