Every Child Ready to Read

Every Child Ready to Read

Before children can learn to read, they must develop a range of early literacy skills. Learning begins the moment they are born, through language and play. Find out about the five simple practices that will help you raise a reader.

Discover the natural world

Young naturalists can join Elizabeth for outdoor adventures on our Youtube channel. Our early episodes of Words from the Wild focused on different animals each week. We're expanding this summer to offer longer episodes that will include outings into the lakes and forests of Kingston Frontenac, plus visits by some special guests. Subscribe to our channel so you'll never miss an episode!

Showtime with Team T&J!

Team T&J will kick off our summer of virtual programming for kids of all ages. Get ready to groove with a musical show on the themes of teamwork, togetherness and diversity! Watch the recorded performances on KFPL's YouTube channel starting on June 27th!

Online Children's Programs

Hop on board the Storytime Express

KFPL staff are launching three new online programming series for children and families.

Baby & Me will feature individual rhymes, songs, bounces and games that parents can play with their baby or toddler. Inspired by our regular programming for infants, these videos will help parents build early literacy skills at home. Meanwhile, in Meredith's Maker Lab children will engage in a variety of arts and crafts projects using easy-to-find materials you'll likely have around the house. For both of these programs, subscribe to our Youtube channel to see new content as it is uploaded, or follow us on Twitter or Facebook for new releases every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Storytime Express will offer families a taste of our popular Family Storytime programs at home. This program will include read-alouds, songs, rhymes, STEM facts and more. Due to restrictions on recording performances, including reading books aloud, the programs are posted privately and a link will be emailed out to all registrants each week. You'll be able to watch it as often as you like!
