This winter KFPL will be running junior book clubs at the Isabel Turner Branch to support the Forest of Reading®. The Forest of Reading® is Canada's largest recreational reading program, bringing children together to celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators.

Registration for the Silver Birch Express Award®, Silver Birch Fiction Award®, and the Yellow Cedar Award clubs begins on Saturday, January 18. To learn more about the reading lists and age requirements for these book clubs, please visit the event calendar.

The RHRA is committed to the protection and well-being of seniors living in retirement homes. It licenses and inspects these homes, monitoring their adherence to care and safety standards, responding to complaints, and closing homes not in compliance. Learn how the RHRA can help you make decisions about retirement living. Free to all adults, but seating is limited. Des conférenciers sans pareil seront invités pour chaque session de discussion, qui se dérouleront dans les langues officielles du Canada. Chaque discussion portera sur un thème particulier : la politique, la culture, la santé, la famille, la gastronomie, etc.

Guest speakers are invited to each session that will take place in both official languages to discuss topics that include: politics, culture, healthcare, family life, gastronomy, etc.

As the most valuable commodity in the world and an enormous source of wealth, petroleum is the lifeblood of modern economies. It involves both governments and corporations — and, inevitably, politics. International oil economist and local author John Foster will explain the role of petroleum in today's conflict zones.  Registration is now full for this talk, which is free to adults, so any additional registrants will be added to a waiting list.
