KFPL's Teen Drop-In is a safe space for teens aged 13-18 to hang out after school. Beginning Tuesday, September 17 at Calvin Park, and Wednesday, September 25 at Isabel Turner, attendees can work on homework, play board and video games, or work on a fun craft with a library programmer. Light snacks will be provided.
KFPL is now accepting applications from teens interested in joining our Central, Isabel Turner, and Rideau Heights branch Teen Advisory Groups. Participation in a TAG is a great way to meet friends, develop important skills, make a contribution to your community, and earn volunteer hours!
KFPL is looking for teen volunteers to assist with our popular Reading Buddies program. Volunteers will assist a KFPL programmer in the facilitation of literacy instruction and fun activities for children in Grades 1 to 3. We need volunteers for our July 9 - July 12 session at Isabel Turner (1:30 - 3 p.m. each day) and our August 6 - 9 session at Central (1:30 - 3 p.m. each day). Participants will earn volunteer hours by attending a short training session, reading to and with younger children, and helping to organize this rewarding program.
KFPL's popular Summer Reading Challenges for Teens will launch on July 1 . . . but there might just be some teaser content posted before that! Register now for this exciting online program, which encourages players to explore literature, library resources, and the community. Complete challenges for chances to win weekly book prizes and great gift cards, or participate in our newly developed "Online Book Club" for additional fun.
Senior high school students and their parents are invited to a candid and casual informational event where former KFPL teen volunteers will discuss their college and university experiences. They will answer questions about dorm life, budgeting, time management, study tips, and their struggles and successes as they navigated post-secondary life. Please register students and parents individually.
